We’re proud to say we've been part of the UK’s motoring story for over 50 years — and were one of the first to introduce extended warranties to the UK market back in the 1970s.

Over the decades, we’ve supported some of the most trusted names in the industry, including The AA, RAC, vehicle manufacturers, national dealer groups, and major vehicle remarketing businesses.

Since launching The Motoring Organisation in 2020, we’ve built on that legacy with a team of industry experts whose experience spans decades across every corner of the motor trade — from retail and dealer operations to claims management and product development.

Our flagship Aftercare product is a reflection of that: smart, reliable, and built to go further — helping drivers, dealers, and partners stay protected, supported, and confident on the road.

OUR HISTORY

Our Heritage

In the early 1970s, our founding team helped pioneer the concept of extended car warranties in the UK — introducing a new level of protection and peace of mind for used car buyers. It was an industry first that laid the foundations for decades of innovation and partnership across the motoring world.

Building the AA Warranty Brand

In 2006, we began work on what would become one of the UK’s most recognisable warranty offerings — AA Warranty. Built entirely from the ground up, this was more than just a brand exercise. It was a full-scale product development and distribution success story, combining trusted branding with real substance behind the scenes.

The AA brand was successfully launched in 2006 and maintained stable and reliable under our watch for 14 years, up until February 2020. Our ability to sustain, grow, and react to the needs of the brand for over a decade is a real testament to our team operational excellence and commitment to maintaining high standards of service.

TMO and Launch of Aftercare

With decades of experience behind us, 2020 marked the launch of The Motoring Organisation — our own independent brand built to do things better.

TMO was founded with a clear purpose: to create a smarter, more customer-focused alternative to the traditional warranty model. One that didn’t just carry a household name, but actually delivered substance, value, and genuine support to drivers and dealers alike. We built our systems from the ground up, putting usability, flexibility, and clarity at the heart of everything.

It was during this period that Aftercare was born. Aftercare is not just a warranty product, but a fully rounded solution that's designed to remove uncertainty for drivers and to take the weight off a dealer’s shoulders. Aftercare has since become our flagship product — a true answer to modern-day driving anxieties, from rising repair costs to managing all of the stages involved during a breakdown.

As we move forward, our mission is not just to keep pace with change — but to lead it. The motoring landscape is evolving faster than ever, with electric vehicles, connected technologies, and shifting consumer expectations transforming the way people buy, drive, and care for their vehicles. At TMO, we see these changes not as challenges, but as opportunities to raise the bar even further.

Building on the strong foundations laid in our early years, 2025 marks the beginning of a new phase of innovation and expansion. We're investing heavily in digital infrastructure to streamline experiences for customers and partners, from intuitive self-service tools to seamless integrations for dealers. Our aim is to make every interaction — from registration to support— fast, transparent, and easy.

We're also growing our product range to meet the needs of a more diverse market. Whether it’s enhanced EV support, data-led maintenance solutions, or more flexible cover options for modern ownership models, our focus is on practical innovation: solutions that make sense, add value, and strengthen trust.

But more than anything, we remain committed to service. Because at the heart of everything is a driver who just wants to feel safe, supported, and back on the road with minimal fuss.
